Entity Framework can be fraught with “gotchas” if you’re not well-versed in its behavior. I am asked so many of the same questions from developers on twitter (and email and however else they can find me). The most common questions are from devs who’ve been bit by Foreign Keys in a variety of ways or confounded by Code First mappings not behaving as they expect. Just like in life, relationships in EF are complicated. Whether you’re trying to retrieve graphs efficiently, delete related objects or define relationships in code, Entity Framework relationships — especially in disconnected applications — continues to baffle developers. In this session you’ll learn about some of these unexpected behaviors, how to prepare for them or how to recognize and solve them when they bite you too! We’ll also look at some debugging strategies to help you get to the bottom of the problems when they do occur.
